Okpanku G28 Honours Sen. Ngwu's Aide, Hon. Engr. Okoro Emmanuel with Leadership Excellence Award
On December 31, 2024, the social-political group G28, comprising key political stakeholders, community leaders, and business moguls from Okpanku, gathered at Amagu Okpanku residence of Engr. Okoro Emmanuel to honor their illustrious son.
Engr. Emmanuel, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Osita Ngwu, the Senate Minority Whip of the 10th Senate, was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the group and society at large.
The group also seized the opportunity to thank God for the successful surgery of one of their leaders, Hon. Benneth Ajah, former local government chairman and current Enugu State PDP Youth Leader. They offered prayers for his quick recovery to enable him to resume his duties.
In his remarks, the coordinator of the G28, Hon. Gabriel Ukpabi, highlighted the origins of the group. He explained that the G28 evolved from the G7, a coalition of representatives carefully selected from the seven villages of Okpanku, with the vision of changing the political narrative in the community. The group aims to create opportunities where "the son of nobody can become somebody."
Hon. Ukpabi praised Engr. Okoro Emmanuel for his exemplary service to the group, the youth, widows, and the community at large, which earned him the prestigious award.
Ukpabi extended his gratitude to Senator Osita Ngwu for entrusting their son with significant responsibilities and assured that the gesture would not be taken for granted. He further emphasized the importance of unity in Okpanku and invited others to join the group, stressing that G28 is committed to growth, and the award event will remain an annual activity.
In his response, Engr. Okoro Emmanuel expressed gratitude to God, acknowledging Him as the source of his strength. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving his people and enhancing their lives. Reflecting on the purpose of the G28, he described it as a platform for fostering unity, resolving differences, and building a collective vision for progress.
Engr. Emmanuel dedicated the award to God and the people of Aninri, promising a brighter future for the group, ndi Okpanku, and the entire Aninri. He also hinted at plans to extend the G28 initiative to the local government and beyond, emphasizing the need for genuine care for the people.
The event was graced by notable personalities, including Hon. Igwe Phillip, leader of the Aninri Legislative Council; Hon. Gabriel Ukpabi, former Secretary of Aninri Local Government and G28 coordinator; Hon. Mark Ogbonna, President General of Ekoli Autonomous Community; Hon. Cyril Obi, PDP Chairman of Okpanku Ward; Dr. Martins Elechi, former Chief of Staff of Aninri Local Government; Chief Chukwu Ogbonna (Onyika Odoro), former PDP State Chieftain; and many others.
The celebration marked a milestone for G28 and reinforced its commitment to unity, growth, and the betterment of Okpanku and Aninri as a whole.
