Breaking: Stakeholders in Aninri, Welcomes Federal Rep. Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu for Crucial Dialogue on 2025 Federal Projects

In a significant political development aimed at fostering grassroots development and expanding federal presence within the Aninri Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of Aninri L.G.A, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, hosted a high-level strategic meeting with critical stakeholders. The dialogue was held in response to the invitation extended by the Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, whose mission was to initiate a collaborative process for implementing the 2025 federal constituency projects.
The meeting brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women representatives, political stakeholders, and senior council officials, all unified by a shared goal: to deliberate on actionable steps for maximizing the federal government’s developmental footprint in Aninri through projects earmarked in the forthcoming 2025 federal budget.
Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, a distinguished legislator with a proven record of responsiveness and accessibility, reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance. He underscored the necessity of direct consultation with local stakeholders in ensuring the effective delivery of constituency projects tailored to the unique needs of Aninri. The federal lawmaker thanked the executive chairman, Hon. Prince Nwanjoku, for the warm reception and his consistent dedication to promoting grassroots development.
Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Onwuegbu emphasized that the feedback and contributions gathered from the session would serve as the backbone of a people-centric implementation strategy. He acknowledged that participatory governance is crucial to achieving sustainable development, especially within underserved communities, and vowed to maintain this inclusive approach throughout his tenure.
In his response, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku commended the representative for what he described as “a visionary and proactive initiative.” The council chairman praised the transparency and accountability demonstrated by Hon. Onwuegbu, especially by engaging the grassroots before finalizing the 2025 project roll-out. According to him, this consultation is a reflection of the lawmaker’s integrity and respect for the people of Aninri.
“This meaningful interaction with our federal representative shows his genuine commitment to collaboration, transparency, and a hands-on approach to governance. As a council, we are deeply grateful for his focus on Aninri’s development. We align with his strategic vision and are committed to providing every necessary support, including security and administrative backing, to ensure seamless execution of these upcoming projects,” Hon. Nwanjoku stated.
He further noted that this meeting aligned perfectly with the development philosophy of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who has consistently advocated for partnership-driven project executions across all levels of government. Hon. Nwanjoku recalled his prior meeting with Governor Mbah, during which the governor encouraged synergy between the state, local governments, and federal legislators in delivering high-impact projects to citizens.
The chairman assured Hon. Onwuegbu of the council’s unflinching cooperation and highlighted key areas requiring urgent federal attention — including rural electrification, road rehabilitation, water supply, youth empowerment, and educational infrastructure. He stressed that the council, in line with the governor’s directive, would play a proactive role in ensuring smooth implementation.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Onwuegbu provided a sneak peek into several proposed initiatives aimed at transforming Aninri’s socio-economic landscape. These include the construction of new health centres, rehabilitation of strategic link roads, provision of ICT training hubs for youth, and economic empowerment programs for women and small-scale entrepreneurs.
As the meeting concluded, there was a shared sense of optimism and renewed purpose among all stakeholders. The successful convening not only strengthened the synergy between federal and local actors but also set a promising tone for the rollout of transformative projects in Aninri in 2025.
This strategic engagement marks a bold step in participatory governance, and if sustained, could set a model for replicable development efforts across other local governments in Enugu State and Nigeria at large.
