Breaking: Simon Ekpa's biafra agitation Lands him in court, as Finland takes actions
Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, has revealed that the case of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Biafra Prime Minister, is currently before Finnish courts. Ekpa, who resides in Finland, has been a strong advocate for sit-at-home directives in Nigeria's South Eastern states, despite the mainstream leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) suspending the exercise. According to Channels Television, Valtonen made the disclosure during a press conference in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, alongside her Nordic counterparts on Tuesday. She stated that the Nigerian government had reported Ekpa's activities to the Finnish government, leading to the court case.
Ekpa was previously arrested in Finland in February 2023 for threatening that elections would not hold in the South-East region. He has since been released and continues to post pro-Biafran messages on social media.
The Nordic ministers, including those from Sweden, Iceland, Norway, and Denmark, are on a two-day trip to Nigeria and Ghana to deepen trade ties and focus on areas such as countering violent extremists in West Africa and achieving sustainable development goals.
